Notes on the sermon I just watched: Mattie Montgomery.

“The free gift of salvation is not free, it costs you everything.” I don’t have the right to my own life anymore. (Friends, thoughts, music, clothes, etc.)

Why did Jesus get tortured so much if all that was needed was blood which could have been given with one hit? The torturous events leading to the cross were an example for future believers to follow. To paint a picture of what your life should be like as a believer. Every step on the way to the cross.

“If you’re going to follow Jesus you have to say yes to your flesh violently ripped from you.” (God may rip things from your life, or tear them away. Like friends, or passions not for him for example.)

“If you’ve never suffered for following Jesus, you’ve never followed him. If you’re not getting made fun of or casted out for your faith you’re not doing it right.” This one hits me really hard because there’s so much truth in this. Not everyone’s a christian and non-believers will make fun of you, or try to bring you down whether they are you’re friends or not. You will lose people in your life that you thought you were close with, people will think you’re weird, but nothing matters except our God and your love for him.

“Nothing is more fun to me then seeing sinners come to repentance.” This is absolutely beautiful and true for me, seeing people give their lives to Christ encourages and reminds me of how great our God and how he can turn our lives upsidedown!

There’s way more in this sermon, so I would suggest looking up this podcast.

Some advice for fellow Christians so desperate to date.

  1. Focus more on your relationship with God than finding a relationship with someone else.
  2. Guard your heart, just because someone attends church doesn’t always mean they have their own relationship with God.
  3. Dating a bunch of people isn’t a good thing, when God puts the person in your life he wants you to marry, it’s better to not have baggage and a past with tons of other people.
  4. Do not settle, who God has in store for you will satisfy. Be patient.

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14
